Today I was interviewed by WGN’s Steve Sanders discussing MadIoT and how our power grid could be vulnerable to new types of attacks based on compromising IoT devices turning them in to a massive botnet. Researchers from Princeton recently disclosed that attacks on consumer homes designed to manipulate usage of electricity by attacking Internet controlled high wattage appliances could successfully trigger power line failures under certain circumstances simply by boosting usage 20% or more in one adjacent neighborhood, causing power lines to fail.
